Well built Portable HF Antenna that is compact and deploys easily.

I’ve only had a chance to use it on 10 meters, and just a handful of contacts at that. It performed very well clamped on to my portable tripod, with mast extended just a few feet and placed very close to my house. I get very high noise levels from the house on all other bands (same with my other vertical antennas) so I haven’t tried it anywhere but 10 so far. Once the weather gets better it will go to the park and on vacation with me. The Alpha match feels (and looks) like some sort of PVC plumbing part, but it is solid and robust feeling.

Much like a Glock pistol. The adjustable jaw clamp is very well built and works great as long as you are clamping onto something that you don’t want to scratch up. The whip goes together easily and is very flexible. The counterpoise is nice and strong, I think it will double well as a guy (especially with a few of them) and the included ground stake is quality. The supplied carry case is neat looking and feels of decent quality, although my toddler ripped the cool looking Alpha logo patch off the first day.

I wish I could provide more feedback on the performance; I think the YouTube videos and previous reviews cover that just fine. I give it a 5 based on build quality, simplicity in deployment/recovery and compactness. I’ve read that the SWR without a tuner is usually low enough to work with, which I hope is the case for portable QRP use. Otherwise, the LDG Z100 tuned just fine at 100 watts on 10 meters. This sure beat having to adjust counterpoise lengths, adjust stinger lengths, and change coil taps just to QSY. The only improvement I can think of or would suggest is a more presentable user guide/manual. The piece of paper I got with mine looked like it went through the washing machine, and I’ve read of some owners not even getting one at all. I know it’s available for download, so not that big of a deal.
