How to test an Alpha Match

6M Loop Analysis

TEST: Here is how to properly test your Alpha Match. Place it on a non-conductive surface and connect it to an antenna analyzer. While monitoring the SWR on the analyzer, simultaneously grasp the bottom and top bolts on the match with your fingers. Your body will then simulate the capacitance of your antenna’s elements. If you see an SWR of less than 2.9:1 while touching the match, then it is working. Also, an SWR of approximately 7:1 or less should be observed while you are not touching the match.

REPAIR: Please try the following as a last resort to turn the hex shaped side of the SO-239 found on the bottom of your match 1/4 of a left turn followed by a 1/4 turn left of the top nut on the top of the match, while monitoring both times an antenna analyzer.

REPLACEMENT: If your match has failed, then you may need a to replace it. If you would like us to confirm if this is the case, we offer diagnostic SERVICES.
