In the world of emergency communications (EmComm), having a reliable and efficient antenna is crucial for ensuring effective communication during critical situations. Whether you’re setting up in a parking lot or deploying in the field, the right antenna will make all the difference. For a total price on your EmComm solution, simply click each of the following links and add the associated product to your cart. Here, are the best EmComm Antennas for Vehicle Mounted VHF/UHF and HF deployments followed by the best for Parking Lot and Open Field Deployments.
Vehicle Mounted VHF/UHF and HF deployments
Recommended VHF UHF Mobile antenna: Mobile VHF UHF EmComm Antenna
Performance and Deployment: Gain/Minimum VSWR on Amateur Radio Frequencies are 2.1dBi/1.22:1 (144MHz), 4.6dBi/1.86:1 (430MHz), 5.5dBi/1.04:1 (900MHz) The wide bandwidth of this antenna increases its’ immediate functionality and impact for usability across a large frequency range. Deployment requires that it be installed using the magnetic mount, which is engineered to be a critical component of this balanced system.
Recommended HF Mobile antenna: HF Mobile EmComm Antenna
Recommended Mounting Option: Mobile Antenna Mount + UHF Elbow “L” Elbow Coax Adapter
Recommended Stationary Mobile Options: Military Antenna Whip 9’ 4” MilStick + 60 foot End-fed element + Nut/Bolt
Performance and Deployment: Although gain is different based upon each vehicle and mount the antenna is installed upon, this antenna works very well with an external tuner on 6, 10, 12, 15, 17, & 20 meters every single time and no matter how compromised the mount to vehicle is. On 30 it works well, and you’ll make decent regional contacts on 40 meters. On 60 & 80 meters, it’s a receive only antenna, although ground wave contacts are possible. For even more Effective Radiated Power when parked, either the optional 9’4″ element for 10-40M or 60′ element for 10-80M can be deployed without removing the MOTO from your vehicle. Just remove the 5′ whip and replace it with either of the optional elements. Additionally, tuner-free operations and increased power handling to 250 PEP SSB, 125 CW, or 25 watts for digital modes is enabled when the 60′ element for 10-80M is installed.
Parking lot and Open field deployments
Recommended Portable HF VHF UHF Antenna: HF VHF UHF HexTenna Deluxe, which includes our very stable Tripod.
Performance and Deployment: The high performance of the HexTenna Deluxe allows the use lower power levels, which enables batteries to last longer. This is because the HexTenna is an actual resonant ‘rigid’ Dipole & Vertical with a Tuned Counterpoise, each of which has no lossy Baluns, UNUNs, or coils/traps. The HexTenna Deluxe requires only the included Tripod for Mounting can be deployed as a Rigid Dipole for directional performance with 2.15dBi of gain on VHF & HF. Alternatively, when space is limited, then the HexTenna can be deployed as a vertical for an omnidirectional signal that has 1dBi of gain on 10-20M and 3dBi of gain on VHF/UHF.
Recommended Portable VHF UHF 6M Antenna: VHF UHF 6M, UV6 Antenna
Recommended Options: Medium Duty Tripod + Stackable Medium Duty MD-Mast + Guy Rope Kit.
Performance and Deployment: The gain provided by the UV6 is relatively high and placing it higher increases performance. This is why we recommend installing it on the Medium Duty Tripod with the added Stackable Medium Duty MD-Mast secured using the optional Guy Rope Kit. When the UV6 is deployed along-side the HexTenna Deluxe, you will have individual antenna systems for use on your equipment’s separate U/VHF and HF antenna connections.
Alternative Solution and Conclusion
For a lower cost EmComm Antenna solution that also deploys into a very small footprint, which is excellent for a single operator scenario, we could also recommend the 100W VHF UHF HF EmComm MagLoop antenna. Otherwise, the rugged design of these aforementioned EmComm antennas is also field proven and ready to provide your team with lifesaving capabilities. Prepare now by ensuring a most critical component to your emergency response is in place and ready to deploy at a moment’s notice.
