Installation
You may install this system in 3 easy steps:
- Either install the Match on a wood fence post/plank using four screws or use the optional 1.25” mast adapter to install the antenna on your mast.
- Place the horizontal wire and vertical element on the top bolt of the Base Alpha Match then deploy and attach the grounded counterpoise on the bottom bolt of the Base Alpha Match.
- Attach your coax to the SO239 on the Base Alpha Match and get on the air without an antenna tuner or with a tuner if you have installed the system over a poor ground or near large objects (like buildings).
* NOTE – When not in use or when winds are greater than 35MPH then uninstall ‘removable vertical element’ by simply unscrewing it when not in use.
More Information
This Off-Center Fan/Fed Vertical Antenna system is constructed of an easy to deploy/retract tapered telescopic stainless-steel element that is rugged yet should be collapsed when winds in excess of 50 MPH are expected. Once this tough and ultra-lite vertical antenna is deployed, a horizontally sloping active wire element is attached at the base of the vertical antenna. The total length of the 17′ 9″ vertical element and the 25′ 3″ horizontally sloped element equals the magic number of 43 feet that so many excellent systems use for multi-band operation from 10-80 meters. The last element is an 8-foot grounded counterpoise element, which completes the circuit by creating a static drain for common mode current that also helps with lightning protection.

They were great to work with I ordered a antenna from them, and I needed to get it before going to Dayton, I also had a 50.00-dollar credit to use before it expired. I sent them a E-mail told them was going on and they were able to get me the antenna a week after I order it. they put a rush on my package I did not want it sitting on my porch while I was on vacation. They are GREAT to work with
This is maybe my third Alpha Antenna — always good! This most recent one is for an experiment at the radio museum (CHRS – Alameda), an urban area with LOTS of noise. Thanks, Steve! 73 de Bart, K6VK ##
Excellent antenna. Easy to install and performs as advertised.
Importing Ham Gear halfway around the world from Alpha on multiple occasions has been completely painless – and it works so well when in arrives. I’ll be getting more!
