Analysis
Analysis at the antenna when properly deployed on the tripod with Vertical, NVIS, & Grounded Counterpoise elements without a tuner. An external antenna tuner can be used if the antenna systems is deployed over a poor ground or not placed in a clear area.
Deployment
1) Install the match on the Tripod or Mast Mount, your mounting option with the 8’ ground wire between the match and either the tripod or jaw mount.
2) Clip the 8′ Grounded Counterpoise Wire under and the 25′ NVIS Element above the AutoMatch. This will require that the clamps be pressed onto appropriate bend out for a perfect fit.
3) Attach your coax to the SO239 on the AutoMatch and connect the other end of the coax to your equipment.
Signal Patterns
Elevation/Azimuth signal patterns with default configuration.
(BLUE is from the Side & RED is from Above of the antenna)
More Information
Never Remove or Loosen any of the Bolts, Washers, Nuts, or Caps on the AutoMatch.
Signal Pattern: Using the NVIS, Vertical & Grounded Counterpoise elements, the balance of the system launches your signal at your target in the opposite direction the NVIS element is run. For an omnidirectional signal pattern, you may remove the NVIS element.
No Guying: The HD Tripod wraps around and protects the antenna system when stored. Talons and a built-in heel step are at the base of each tripod leg. This enables the tripod to be used in most environmental conditions without guy wires.
Touch free operations: The system enables you to switch bands or change frequencies without having to change switches, jumpers, or coils as it is an off-center fed dipole type vertical that is pre-tuned when deployed over real ground. Making this antenna especially useful if you have a disability such as being mobility or sight impaired.
Increased ERP (Effective Radiated Power): The electrically balanced OCF dipole circuit of the system has an increased ERP over the base fed vertical (end-fed) antennas that use lossy matches to force low SWRs.
Optimized DX and NVIS signal patterns: The combination of a Vertical element with the NVIS and Grounded Counterpoise elements provide for a directional portable HF antenna system that enhances lower take off angles for increased DX communications, while simultaneously enhancing NVIS (Near Vertical Incident Skywave) for stateside communications.
Stability: The AutoMatch is computer designed for proper balance. It contains a transformer that is enclosed in a rugged housing. The match and elements are what give the AutoMatch both the inductive and capacitive balance. Once the elements are installed, their capacitive characteristics also enables RF to radiate.
MilStick Whip: This antenna is our electrically conductive, industrial strength MilStick whip. The composite of the MilStick whip is a high strength alloy. The construction of each element has a scratch-resistant surface. The inserts are then electrically bonded, where full RF continuity is used to ensure that maximum efficiencies are achieved. This Seven section MilStick vertical element that is 9′ 4″ long is excellent for most deployments in environments that are not exposed daily to salt water or extreme physical abuse. An optional stainless-steel whip is available for saltwater environments.
Industrial Wiring: Sheathed memory free wiring is used, which is rated for temperatures from -40°C to +175°C. This makes it far superior to wiring that is so light duty that it can be wrapped around a kite string holder.
Field Bag: The various sized field bags for our portable HF antennas include our logo and high-quality zippers.
Options
SS Vertical Element
1) The 17’ 9” stainless steel ‘SS’ vertical element is better suited for extended outdoor use or saltwater environments. The length of this whip can also be adjusted to achieve lower SWRs. Be advised not to deploy the full length of the stainless-steel element to 17‘9“ when it is used during high winds, but only extend it to 13 feet will provide better wind-load capabilities.
NOTE – If you are going to experience wind’s greater than 45 mph, then the element should be retracted. Alternatively, you can fully extend the telescopic whip when winds are less than 45 mph when guyed.
4 (four) 35′ NVIS elements:
Deploy using 1 (one) Vertical Element, 1 (one) grounded counterpoise, and the optional 4 (four) NVIS Elements each at 90 degrees from the other in lieu of the single wire NVIS element.
HF Frequency Coverage – 1.6MHz to 30MHz when using a tuner if ground conditions are poor.
Power – 250W PEP SSB, 125W CW, or 25W for digital modes
Optional end-fed elements
Use the optional 34′ (60′ or 140′) end fed element and Nut/Bolt – Alpha Antenna in lieu of both the vertical and the single wire NVIS elements.
HF Frequency Coverage – 3.5MHz to 30MHz without a tuner with the 60 foot element. Use the 140′ to increase efficiencies on 80/160M or the 34′ element for reduced efficiencies on 6-80M.
Power remains – 250W PEP SSB, 125W CW, or 25W for digital modes for all variations.

Excellent Build Quality and design which is expected from Steve and his team!
I had some initial issues. I was very grateful for the help in getting this up and running would highly recommend.
I am very impressed with the personal and professional interest that I have received from placing my order as well as a followup question I had about a point of confusion. It was not only explained to me buy showed a picture of the solution. I have known two hams who are using this product and have given it rave reviews. It was from watching them use the product and the good results they achieved that I decided to make this purchase.
I’m new to Ham Radio and am working on my Technician license. I bought the ICOM 7300 and the Alpha Mil 2.0 FMJ antenna. I haven’t pulled much in Central Illinois, but there are many factors (hardware, conditions, experience, timing, etc.). I’m optimistic though after reaching Poland on Field Day so I’m giving the antenna a 5 based on that.
loving my Alpha Antenna and when i called about shipping status the response was quick and accurate! great work and will definitely buy from y’all again!!
