MORE INFORMATION

Signal Pattern:

Using the NVIS, Vertical & Grounded Counterpoise elements, the balance of the system launches your signal at your target in the opposite direction the NVIS element is run. For an omnidirectional signal pattern, you may remove the NVIS element.

No Guying:

The HD Tripod wraps around and protects the antenna system when stored. Talons and a built-in heel step are at the base of each tripod leg. This enables the tripod to be used in most environmental conditions without guy wires.

Touch free operations:

The system enables you to switch bands or change frequencies without having to change switches, jumpers, or coils as it is an off-center fed dipole type vertical that is pre-tuned when deployed over real ground.

Increased ERP (Effective Radiated Power):

The electrically balanced OCF dipole circuit of the system has an increased ERP over the base fed vertical (end-fed) antennas that use lossy matches to force low SWRs.

Optimized DX and NVIS signal patterns:

The combination of a Vertical element with the NVIS and Grounded Counterpoise elements provide for a directional portable HF antenna system that enhances lower take off angles for increased DX communications, while simultaneously enhancing NVIS (Near Vertical Incident Skywave) for stateside communications.

Stability:

The Alpha Match is computer designed for proper balance. It contains a transformer that is enclosed in a rugged housing. The match and elements are what give the Alpha Match both the inductive and capacitive balance. Once the elements are installed, their capacitive characteristics also enables RF to radiate.

MilStick Whip:

This antenna is our electrically conductive, industrial strength MilStick whip. The composite of the MilStick whip is a high strength alloy. The construction of each element has a scratch-resistant surface. The inserts are then electrically bonded, where full RF continuity is used to ensure that maximum efficiencies are achieved.

Industrial Wiring:

Sheathed memory free wiring is used, which is rated for temperatures from -40°C to +175°C. This makes it far superior to wiring that is so light duty that it can be wrapped around a kite string holder.

Field Bag:

The various sized field bags for our portable HF antennas include our logo and high-quality zippers.

OPTIONS

Optional Vertical Elements:

1) The default configuration comes with a Seven section MilStick vertical element that is 9′ 4″ long. This general-purpose vertical element is excellent for most deployments in environments that are not exposed daily to salt water or extreme physical abuse.

2) The 17’ 9” stainless steel element is better suited for extended outdoor use or saltwater environments. The length of this whip can also be adjusted to achieve lower SWRs. Be advised not to deploy the full length of the stainless-steel element to 17‘9“ when it is used during high winds, but only extend it to 13 feet will provide better wind-load capabilities.

NOTE – If you are going to experience wind’s greater than 35 mph, then the element should be retracted. Alternatively, you can fully extend the telescopic whip when winds are less than 35 mph.

3) For more extreme environments, we may offer a Six section 13-foot MiliStick. This option offers the most flexibility for field repairs and easily withstands 55 mph winds.

Optional 4 (four) 35′ NVIS elements

Deploy using 1 (one) Vertical Element, 1 (one) grounded counterpoise, and the optional 4 (four) NVIS Elements each at 90 degrees from the other in lieu of the single wire NVIS element.
HF Frequency Coverage – 1.6MHz to 30MHz when using a tuner if ground conditions are poor.
Power – 250W PEP SSB, 125W CW, or 25W for digital modes

Optional 60-foot element

Use 1 (one) grounded counterpoise and the optional 1 (one) 60′ end-fed half-wave dipole element in lieu of both the vertical and the single wire NVIS elements.
HF Frequency Coverage – 3.5MHz to 30MHz without a tuner
Power – 250W PEP SSB, 125W CW, or 25W for digital modes

  1. This is by far the best portable HF antenna out there. It is built of superior quality and has outstanding SWR throughout the bands. I’ve worked stations around the world on 10w QRP. It’s a perfect setup for a portable station. Customer service can’t be beat either. Very responsive and will completely take care of you.

  2. Great antenna, well made and easy to assemble and take down. The reviews online are accurate . I made contacts right away. The customer service is great. The customer comes first at Alpha Antenna. If you have limited space or want an effective, easy to set up antenna for POTA or in your yard, this is a great option.

  3. This is an excellent antenna. Flexible, durable, and has great performance. A complete package for amateur radio deployment. Glad I have it in my go kit.

  4. Used FMJ on beach and mountains . Well constructed – has withstood wind/rain/snow .
