Deployment

  1. Push the included Mounting Spike into the ground,
  2. Extend the jumper wire between the HOA Buster Match and downspout, keeping it off the ground, and secure it with the included clip,
  3. Then attach any length of coax to the connector on the bottom of the AutoMatch and run your coax to your equipment.

HOA Buster Installation

Never Loosen any of the Bolts, Washers, Nuts, or Caps on the HOA Buster’s match. Otherwise, you’ll need an impact wrench to tighten them.

Options

An optional 60-foot end-fed HF antenna element activates 10 through 80 Meters and is used instead of a gutter. This is very useful if you are deployed on a beach, mountain, or in a park. MORE INFORMATION

Note

What detracts from gutters performing well as an antenna, are often if it is either steel/aluminum or stucco siding/roof. Whether your siding is stucco, there may be chicken wire under it. There may also be Mesh Fiberglass Stucco Netting, which has no negative impact. So, check for that to ensure that metallic wire does not exist under your stucco siding, which is present will have an absorption rate for the RF that makes it difficult to either receive or transmit as a HF Antenna.

This antenna is a shocker, performing way beyond expectations. Hit both coasts and all over in between, this antenna is a solid tool for those living in HOAs. Solid receive, outstanding output…it is way better than all my club predicted. I knew it was solid. All my antennas from Alpha are top notch. Can’t reco it higher.

Construction looks fantastic, and it was recommended by a fellow Hamster that is in a Condo situation like me. The only issue is the Michigan Winter right now getting on the air and my shack reconstruction. I can’t wait for some warmer weather to get the new coax run and do some testing.

Q & A

Ask a question
What is the value of the inductor used with this system? store manager asked on December 13, 2024

Instead of focusing on the values of the components used to build this system, we publish the values from the analyzers that were used to Build and Optimize this system. While the inductor for this system was being Built and Optimized, the values for the bands it is designed for were simultaneously monitored using both RigExpert and AIM analyzers. During the BUILD process, the system was connected to one set of gutters, and physical changes were made to the inductor till the best values were presented on the analyzers. During the OPTIMIZATION process the system was moved/connected to the gutters on multiple homes, and physical changes were again made to the inductor till the best values were presented on the analyzers for all the home's gutters it was attached to. We hope you enjoy the results of this finely tuned system!

What gauge wire would you recommend for connecting separate sections of gutter? I have three individual sections (South, East, and West facing sections) that I would like to connect together for use with the HOA Buster I just purchased. Thank you! Marc Sacco asked on March 30, 2024

The minimum gauge wire to form a jumper is 16 AWG that is stranded.

Is it ok to connect additional gutters with a wire? Q A asked on December 3, 2023

THIS IS MOST OFTEN A GOOD THING, BUT ONLY AN ANTENNA ANALYZER AND A TEST USING WSPR WILL SHOW IF YOU MADE IMPROVEMENTS.
