This portable 6-80M HF MIL EmComm system is a tactical wide-band antenna for Directional DX and NVIS. Rapid deployments from the small pack makes using the robust building blocks of this system easy and efficient to deploy.
Options for deployment:
- Mount between 5 to 6 feet on your own 1″ O.D. Tripod Mast for enhanced DX, or
- Mount on the included stake for enhance NVIS patterns, which lowers the threat of DF signal detection and also the risk of being seen.

1 – Seven section MilStick element is 9′ 4″ long (When storing, fold the whip starting from the top section.)

Analysis
Analysis at the antenna when properly deployed on the tripod with Vertical, NVIS, & Grounded Counterpoise elements without a tuner. An external antenna tuner can be used if the antenna systems is deployed over a poor ground or not placed in a clear area.

Touch free operations: This updated version of the FMJ system enables you to switch bands or change frequencies without having to change switches, jumpers, or coils as it is an off-center fed dipole type vertical that is pre-tuned when deployed over real ground. Making this antenna especially useful if you have a disability such as being mobility or sight impaired.

It works well enough if switching bands frequently is needed. To improve the SWR on the 40 meter band, I used the 17′ adjustable whip and things improved quite a bit across all bands.
For use on the 20 meter band the POTA Performer is hard to beat but the Alpha Mil 2.0 is better if band hopping is needed.
This antenna system meets all of my desires for portable operation. It is easy to deploy. It is compact. I am able to blend it with non Alpha components for flexibility and experimentation without any problems. Most importantly I am having fun with it.
