HexTenna vs HexTenna Yagi and their differences

The HexTenna Yagi will not function as a Vertical but can be used as a 2-20M Yagi and you can also use the driven side by itself like the HexTenna as a Dipole by leaving the reflector elements installed as a counterweight. Only the HexTenna Vertical and Dipole will function as both a Dipole or Vertical, covering 2 – 40 Meters, plus 220MHz, & 440MHz. You can tune either one by equally lengthening each element until resonance is achieved. REFERENCE: 2-20M HexTenna Yagi antenna vs a Vertical Dipole VHF HF HF HexTenna

Gain demo of Alpha Yagi Beam & Alpha Vertical

Gain difference between mounting the HexTenna 15 feet vs 6 feet.

Spoiler alert: Moving the HexTenna from the 5 1/2 foot HD Tripod to a 15-foot mast increases your signal by half (1/2) an S-Unit.

Environmental Tests

Independent environmental tests by Steven Smith K3SKS with the system deployed in 55 mph, wind gusts and ice on the elements, which enables us to rate this system for 50 mph winds.

The Yagi HexTenna was packaged extremely well and its build quality which was exceptional. We also purchased the Hextenna Dipole with the similar results. We are also strongly considering the 10m-40m, 100 Watt MagLoop. Steve (Owner) has been extremely interactive with our
many questions and we wouldn’t hesitate purchasing any product from Alpha Antenna.

Q & A

Ask a question
What is the performance difference between mounting this at 5 feet vs 20 feet? Q A asked on March 30, 2024

5 feet is the minimum optimum height for mounting this above ground and optimum height is 1/4 wavelength. The difference between 5 feet and 20 feet was 1/2 an S-Unit per https://youtu.be/8EbLeiUxJuM

Can the 6-40 HF/VHF/UHF HexTenna be upgrade to the Yagi? Q A asked on December 28, 2023

There is no upgrade path to the Yagi, as it has a different design, and the hubs are physically and pretty much permanently mounted on the boom.
